I make two styles of floor lamps. We call one "Contemporary" and the other "Traditional" because of the size and shape of their bases. Their height to the the lamp socket is 48 inches. With a suitable shade the total height is 60 inches from the floor.
Custom heights are made to order.

Examples of the bases and posts are shown below. Bases are approximately 11 inches in diameter. Posts are similar with flared ends. Both styles can be made from one, or a combination of two woods
I stock; Butternut, Cherry, Red Birch, Maple, Oak, and Walnut.

All lamps are provided with UL approved, brass,3-way sockets that are rated for 250 watts.

Prices:

Contemporary style (Style #48C) ------- $265.

Traditional style (Style #48T) ------------$435.

HERE IS HOW I MAKE THE BASES

I laminate the block for the Contemporary base by gluing together three 11-inch square boards approximately one-inch thick. The photo below shows the block and post just after the gluing clamps were removed. After the corners are sawn off, the block will be turned round and the top shaped. When finished it will be approximately 11-inches in diameter and 3-inches high.

The finished Traditional base is also approximately 11-inches in diameter but is 6-inches high. The block is made by gluing together 11one-inch thick boards that are 11-inches wide and 6-inches long. The lower photo shows the block with the gluing clamps still in place. Once the corners are sawn off the block is ready for turning.
